It would seem there is in fact a big connection between Bill Cowher, former coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers! And Im not just talking about the four times the Bucs played the Steelers with Cowher as a coach! Nope, but your on the right track, because I am being facetious! Im referring to the fact the Tampa Bay Buccaneers played their first playoff game EVER, against Bill Cowher, linebacker for the Philadelphia Eagles. Then in 1980, the Cleveland Browns and Bill Cowher came to Tampa Stadium and beat our Bucs in week three. Here is the video to prove it!!
Still, the shock value of the headline should be worth a few head turns! Yet I have no idea why! Bill Cowher would be the last person you would want to coach the Bucs; if you think the time with Jim Bates was wasted, wait till Cowher gets ahold of the defense! He is a strict 3-4 guy, and the Bucs do not have the D linemen OR the linebackers to match up in his system. The move would put the Bucs back several years, and last years drafting of Price and McCoy would be rendered worthless. Not only that, but most of the Cowher supporters are only focusing on the positives of his resume. What about the three years he was not able to coach the Steelers into the playoffs. How many Negative Nancies would be able to handle that time frame without calling for his job!!
