Buffalo News has to stop the video recaps

Look, I love the Buffalo News. From their chats to updating their blogs. I can’t say enough about them. However, they need to lose the Buffalo Bills post-game recap videos. They are dreadful. Production and content wise.

For starters, I’m not sure what kind of microphone they use. But it’s about the same quality as a Mr. Microphone. It sounds like Kellogg’s Rice Krispies, a lot of snap, crackle, and pop. Someone needs to call Warren Buffet and have him buy one from the local TV station. Hell, borrow one from channel 7, who does about 2-3 minutes of sports coverage on a newscast.

Not only was the production quality off, but so was the content. All 4 reporters seemed to rush as quickly as possible through their reports. Even one of the reporters called Trent Edwards, Terrell Edwards.

Look, I get the BTN is trying to reinvent themselves since the newspaper business is in a lot of trouble. But doing the chats, the blogs, and videos is a bit too much at one time. TBN website has made a ton of strides over the last couple years, but I think the video portion needs to go on hiatus. I do like some of their video presentations. They had one on the Aud demolition and 40 years of covering the Bills. You can tell those pieces aren’t being rushed.

If I’m the media producer, I would consider trying to do my recap presentations on Monday. It’s just too much work for TBN to do chats, interview players, and write their articles on game day. I would also try and do different topics for the week. Sully could broadcast the person he wants in his doghouse. Or maybe pick a topic that Sully or Bucky have a different opinion on.

I know its tough because TBN has a lot of things on their plate. But just throwing up a video with bad production quality, that pretty much recaps what you just wrote about does nothing for the reader. Also if you’re going to do a round table discussion, maybe try and do it like they have it on TMZ. TMZ has people just chilling in their news room and are casual and just talking. Try to make it more of a relax atmosphere.

Just remember, Rome wasn’t built in a day.
