TCU has been through a lot of ups and downs this year. They have lost their starting QB, multiple RBs and their best defensive player from their team due to different issues and have still fought through to have a decent season. TCU started off 5-1 and then they played a true gauntlet of games as they faced five ranked teams in the final six games going 2-3 in those games against ranked teams (beating Texas and WVU).
The Spartans were one of the most disappointing teams for me this season. Despite losing Kirk Cousins and some of his offensive weapons, I expected them to compete in the B1G and they didn't. Against ranked teams they went 2-3, which isn't horrible but they had to struggle to win games all year. The Spartans fell from 4th in the B1G in total offense to 9th this season and also fell from 3rd in points scored to 10th. Defensively, Michigan State is still very good and statistically they still have the best defense in the Big Ten.
Much like the Alamo Bowl, this one might come down to who you trust more, Andrew Maxwell or Trevone Boykin. For me, I'm going to side with the Spartans defense.
MICHIGAN STATE 21 TCU 16
