Buffalo Wins Staff predictions for Bills/Texans

Joe@Buffalowins (7-4)- Ugh. These are becoming a chore now. This is what happens when Bills games seem to become meaningless and hope is pretty much gone. I could give you some stats like JJ Watt has almost as many sacks as the Bills do as a team or that the Bills beat the crap out of Brian Hoyer last year with Cleveland. However, I’m just over it at this point. The Bills are technically still in the hunt, but for now, I am not. Bills win, 20-14.

Brad Gelber, @BradleyGelber (6-5): So sick of calling every single game a “must win,” but that’s where we’re at. If the Bills drop this one it’s over. I think being back at home will help, but I think with injuries and the mental state of this team, things are quickly unraveling. I honestly think they’ll be lucky to win two games the rest of the season. I know hearing Brian Hoyer doesn’t strike fear into anyone, but he’s serviceable and if the Bills don’t get to him like in KC, who cares? I think this one seals the deal on another year without the playoffs and has even more people calling for Rex’s head on a silver platter. 27-17 Texans

Michael Necci (@manecci) This Sunday we’re all Texans fans. There is no point to drag this misery out any longer. Texans 21 Bills 14.

Mike Migliore (@mmigliore) Record: 6-5- The Pegulas should probably just rename this franchise “In The Hunt” as it’s the most appropriate name possible for Buffalo’s football organization. This team seems completely incapable of making a serious run at the postseason ever, no matter who the coach or quarterback is. Players and coaches are shuffled in an out every year and the team can’t seem to do any better or worse than 4-7 or 5-6 after 11 games. It’s the same thing every year. I’m so sick of it. At this point, I’d rather be 1-10 and planning on drafting a quarterback than trying to figure out how I can get to 9 wins combined with what games Pittsburgh or Kansas City might lose. I’m done with it. Jordan Mills is apparently going to start at right tackle on Sunday, which means that J.J. Watt will probably have 15 sacks and destroy Tyrod Taylor’s knee or shoulder or head or whatever. EJ Manuel will then come in and toss Watt another pick six and we can then turn our collective attention to Sabres season for the next few months (they play Sunday night!). Prediction: Texans 31, Bills 16

Mike McKenzie Houston at Buffalo (-3): Houston rolls into town winners of 4 straight. Their D has given up less than 9 a game in those 4 wins. JJ Watt has been outstanding. He basically beat Buffalo by himself last time these teams met. I expect him to abuse Henderson time and time again. I have no idea what to expect from this Bills team. It looks like they get Sammy involved, then they stop throwing to him. The D looks great against good QBs, and awful against bad QBs. I would certainly take HOU and the 3 points here. I would even consider taking them outright. My only reason for picking the Bills here is it is the most Bills thing to do. It’s way to early for them to be out of playoff contention. They need to string us along before breaking our hearts in the final week of the season. Eliminating themselves now would be too easy on the fans, BUF 22 HOU 20

Scott Michalak (@ScottyMCSS) (9-2) You’ve heard the buzz: fans are flagellating themselves at the gate, the playoff drought has extended into parallel universes, and the WNY area has entered into a state of panic as a giant meteor is barreling straight towards RWS. Everything is awful. Or is it? The season, well, it’s over for the sake of dreamin’, but we still have some football games left to watch before the long wait until next September begins again. Chins up. Even though we’re all yelling at each other now, maybe we should all just try to enjoy football for football’s sake on – /FLAG /FLAG /FLAG /FLAG. Oh. Forget it. I’m out of downs. Looks like I need to punt out of here before we jump to a long commercial break. Quickly: JJ Watt does this, some Bills escape with their limbs mostly intact. Houston 24, Buffalo 17.

Sean – @SeanCorleone (7-4) Ugh….This team…..Every year. Why do I continue to get sucked into the hope vortex? The Bills basically need to win out or it’s our 15th consecutive year without seeing the playoffs. It’s not over, but I’m tired of holding onto every last thread of false hope. Here’s to hoping the pain isn’t too unbearable. I’m totally looking forward to an entire offseason of Rex Ryan takes and hatred towards the highly paid defensive front. What offense will show up this week? Who knows. Is anyone even reading this? Prediction: Bills 20 Texans 17

Rich (@RDotDeuce, 6-4): The Texans, like the Chiefs before them, are a resurgent team that is trying to claw their way either back into the hunt (tm Buffalo Bills) or take the AFC South outright from the worn leathery hands of my favorite dude Matt Hasselbeck, hereotofore known as “The Real Matty Ice”. The Bills have not been consistent in pass rush, temperament or really anything on defense, so I won’t presume it is the case with this game. After watching them make Alex Smith into the reincarnation of the Mad Bomber, I have zero hope this will be a win. 17-10 Texans.

Brett Ludwiczak – @BLeez17 – 6-5 I’m probably going to see 0 minutes of this game since I’m going to the MLS Cup Final in Columbus on Sunday afternoon, so I’ll keep things brief. With their backs against the wall, Buffalo earns a win. I have no solid evidence to support this besides being a braindead homer. Bills 24 Texans 20

Chris- I hate doing this. It’s awful. Given last week’s collapse it’s hard to find much faith in the Bills going out and beating one of the league’s hottest teams. Particularly if JJ Watt is likely to match up with a mix of Jordan Mills and Kraig Urbik. The team is beaten up pretty badly and we’ve reached the point where there seems to be a prevailing opinion that Rex Ryan hasn’t done a very good job with a defense that was comparatively stellar the last two seasons. At this point I’m tired of his bluster and just want to see some results. They almost got it done in Foxboro but couldn’t muster much last week. I’m taking the Texans.
