Buying the Celtics was a good investment for Wyc & Co.

According to Forbes, the Celtics are the 4th most valuable franchise in the NBA:

#4 Boston Celtics

Current value: $1.7 billion
Revenue: $173 million
Operating income: $55 million

The Celtics are one of the NBA’s most profitable teams since they pay no rent at TD Garden and pull in over $60 million a year in local television revenue, including their equity stake in Comcast SportsNet New England.

The group led by Wyc and Pags paid $360 million for the franchise back in 2002.

If my math is correct, that’s a freakin’ large ass return.

The Lakers, Knicks and Bulls are the only teams ahead of the Celtics.
