Orem, Utah — C.J. Cron, the Angels prospect and 1st round pick in the 2011 Amateur draft dislocated his knee cap in Sunday’s game at Single-A Orem.
Cron will be examined on Monday to ensure that his tendons and ligaments check out. Cron collapsed following a swing on Sunday and it took seven people to get the 6-4, 235 pounder onto a stretcher and into an ambulance. Cron has posted a ridiculous .310/.373/.634 slash line with 13 homers over 158 at-bats for Orem thus far. The 21-year-old also needs surgery on his right shoulder after the season.
Our AngelsWin.com Utah rep Rick Dykhuizen was in attendance for the Owlz contest and he had this to say about what happened:

Cron swung the bat and went down in a heap. I thought he had just fouled a ball off of his foot as I have seen players do many times, and even Kotchman didn’t go to the batters box to see if Cron was OK for a minute or two. Cron laid in the batters box for about 45 seconds until the trainer and first base coach came over and finally Kotchman walked over. The game was stopped and a medic from the stands was called to help out. Cron was down for about 25 minutes while the medical personnel wrapped his leg and used (what looked to be) a tire pump on his leg. All of a sudden, an ambulance and a fire truck could be seen entering the college campus (the Owlz play at a local college ballpark) and the ambulance was driven onto the field where Cron was put on a stretcher and was lifted into the ambulance (by about 7 guys). The ambulance drove off and the game resumed about 30 minutes after the incident.

Charles Hall, Frazier Hall’s pops said on our website that C.J. Cron needed to be knocked out so that they could pop the knee cap back in place while he laid there on the ground and before he was loaded up into the ambulance and taken to the hospital. Cron is expected to go on the 7-day DL and could be back as soon as 7-10 days.

Here are some pictures of C.J. Cron’s injury that our Utah rep Rick Dykhuizen took while in attendance for today’s game.
