C.J. McCollum gets a second look in Sacramento, headlines Monday’s group workout

The 2013 NBA Draft is quickly approaching and the Sacramento Kings are using every last minute to decide who they take seventh overall.  UCLA’s Shabazz Muhammad came through  for a second visit on Saturday and now  C.J. McCollum, the sharpshooting guard out of Lehigh, is back for a second look tomorrow .

Big man Steven Adams joins the fray in Sacramento on Monday as well.  The former Pittsburgh star is considered one of the draft’s hardest workers.  Standing at 7-feet with nearly a 7-foot-6 wingspan, you have to at least be intrigued.

• Position: Center
• College: Pittsburgh
• Height: 7-0
• Weight: 255 lbs.

• Quick Breakdown:  A high-risk, high-reward pick with tremendous speed and agility for a big man.

Grant Jerrett

• Age: 19
• Position: Forward
• College: Arizona
• Height: 6-10
• Weight: 230 lbs.
• Chad Ford’s Top 100 Ranking: 39
• Quick Breakdown:  Has size to be an NBA power forward, but raw. Could have used another season or two at the college level to build his skills.

Myck Kabongo

• Age: 21
• Position: Guard
• College: Texas
• Height: 6-3
• Weight: 180 lbs.
• Chad Ford’s Top 100 Ranking: 49
• Quick Breakdown: Long and lean, but lacks elite athleticism.  Would have helped himself by staying in school a little longer, however has high basketball IQ and is a natural point guard.

C.J. McCollum

• Age: 21
• Position: Guard
• College: Lehigh
• Height: 6-3
• Weight: 197 lbs.

• Quick Breakdown:  Possesses a quick first step, good shooter and is at his best in transition.  Strong rebounder, but isn’t overly athletic.

James Southerland

• Age: 23
• Position: Forward
• College: Syracuse
• Height: 6-8
• Weight: 221 lbs.
• Chad Ford’s Top 100 Ranking: 53
• Quick Breakdown: Has a 7-foot-1 wingspan and a history of 40-percent shooting from 3-point range.  That might spark interest from the Kings in the second round.

Christian Watford

• Age: 22
• Position: Forward
• College: Indiana
• Height: 6-9
• Weight: 224 lbs.
• Chad Ford’s Top 100 Ranking: 99
• Quick Breakdown: Power forward with range that projects to a spot up shooter at the next level.  Must sell teams that he can be Ryan Anderson and not a poor man’s Brian Cook.
