Caldwell said the interior line played ok

Here’s what the coach had to say

Caldwell, who said he was concerned in the wake of a preseason loss to Detroit Saturday about the interior of the Colts’ defense, said he wasn’t nearly as worried about the area after reviewing game tape Sunday morning.

“It’s amazing when you look at the film you see something a little different than you would have imagined,” Caldwell said Sunday afternoon, a day after an 18-17 loss to the Detroit Lions at Ford Field in Detroit, Mich., in the third game of the 2009  preseason.

“We weren’t perfect up front, but the defensive interior – some of the big guys – were able to do pretty well. We just had a few mishaps in there and a few missed tackles at the next level. That’s where they got a lot of their big gains.”

That jives with what I saw.  The LB corps didn’t play well.  A couple of the runs were bunched up inside, but popped outside where a LB didn’t keep contain.
