In a piece on the ten reasons the Rangers could win the Stanley Cup this season, Kevin Allen of USA Today says this about Rangers Captain Ryan Callahan…
4. Renewable energy: Ryan Callahan doesn’t have an enormous national profile, and yet he might be one of the league’s best captains. He is an old-school leader who pushes his team to higher performance with his energy and desire. He is fourth in the NHL in hits and he’s tied for second on his team in scoring with 31 points.
…Callahan personifies what a NHL captain is. As we all know, a captain in the NHL doesn’t always have to be the most skilled guy on the team (although Callahan is very skilled), he has to lead by example on and off the ice which Callahan has done to perfection this season.
…the Rangers haven’t been in this good of hands since “The Captain” himself roamed the Blueshirts locker room.
