The contract breakdown: $6 M/ $6.4 M/ $6.5 M/ $6.5 M/ $4.7 M/ $4.7 M. For an AAV of $5.8 M per and includes a four year full no trade clause. Callahan will submit a list of teams in the last two years of deal.
GM Steve Yzerman said of Callahan, “He’s proven to be a fierce competitor and outstanding leader who fits very well with our team.”
“Tampa Bay has been a great place to live and play from the day I got there,” Callahan said. “As soon as the season ended I knew it was a place I wanted to be.”
With the Callahan signing, the Bolts lose their second round pick in 2015 to the Rangers.
The final numbers on the Callahan – Martin St. Louis deal are: Rangers got St. Louis with Tampa Bay’s secondnd round pick in 2015 and the Bolts got Callahan, the Rangers first round round picks in 2014 and 2015 and a seventh round pick in 2015.
