I would normally be watching flipping around the channels to watch between the A-10, ACC, Big East, Big Ten, Big 12 and C-USA Tournaments right now, but I’m fascinated with NESN right now.
It’s showing the Hockey East quarterfinal game between Boston University and UMass-Lowell from the Agganis Arena on the BU campus. For some reason, the network has its announcers in the Brighton studios. There’s hardly any crowd noise. There’s been a goal scored, but there’s no excitement because we can’t hear the crowd.
Is this due to technical difficulties or is it because NESN thought it would be cheaper to have the announcers call the game from the studio? I have no idea. There’s been no explanation thus far.
I keep watching because I’m curious to see how far this train wreck will go.
I’ll have an update later including news on CBS Sports golf announcer David Feherty who was injured in a motorcycle accident (he’s fine).
UPDATE – Just as I post, Tom Caron and Tim Sweeney are heard from the arena so apparently this was a technical glitch. Tom explains what just happened.
