Camp day 20 notes

The Oakland Raiders finished their first day back at camp after a two day break following their win over the Chicago Bears. This kicks off their final week of training camp in Napa. It is leading up to the all important third game of the preseason where the starters will get an extended look and it will be followed rapidly with the first set of cuts as the Raider dream will end for five guys currently on the roster.

  • Darrius Heyward-Bey, Darren McFadden, and Jay Richardson all returned to practice after returning from injuries.

  • Chaz Schilens had a surgical procedure on his knee. Its not expected to be a long recovery.
  • DHB looked sharp in his return to practice.
  • It was the hottest day of practice to date. Head Coach Tom Cable said, “we needed it. We just went right to work and, yeah it’s hot. So what. Give me something cold to drink and we’ll keep moving.”
  • Alex Daniels was back on the defensive side of the ball after the team pulled the plug on his experiment at fullback.
  • Bruce Gradkowski will get significant time in the last two games. This does not bode well for Colt Brennan seeing additional action.
