CAMVP: Why Cam Newton is the league’s MVP right now

bethpage panorama

Cam Newton has put on a show all season long. It’s been nothing short of fun, spectacular, and a little dabbing.

It’s not just the statistics, it’s his overall growth as a quarterback and as a leader. Carolina is 12-0 right now, and it’s been a complete team effort. They have one of the top defenses in all of football, but it’s on the offensive side where this team has come alive.

In Sunday’s game against New Orleans, Carolina traded blow-for-blow with the Saints in spectacular second half fashion.

Trailing 16-13, Cam fired a 13-yard strike to Ted Ginn Jr. to put the Panthers up 20-16. About six minutes later, Cam fired his second touchdown of the quarter ,another 13-yard strike, this one to Devin Funchess. After the Saints fought back to take a 31-27 lead, Cam and the Panthers responded with a 45-yard bomb to Ginn, reclaiming the lead at 34-31. Trailing once again late in the 4th, Cam led the Panthers downfield, hitting Jerricho Cotchery for the game winning 15-yard touchdown pass.

That was Cam’s season in a nutshell. No matter the odds, the deficit, the venue, the criticism, Cam has always responded. He’s played the entire season without his No. 1 option at wide receiver, and yet, he’s put on an MVP season.

CAMVP has been awesome this entire year. He showed growth last season, and you could tell he was on the way up after a solid performance in a Divisional Playoff loss at Seattle. Yeah that’s right, Cam and the Panthers lost in the playoffs, and yet, you saw the growth in him, and in 2015, you’re seeing Cam hitting his peak. He’s on another level, an MVP level.

He’s dabbed and he’s given every Panthers touchdown away to a fellow Panthers fan, and at some point this season, he’ll be the one finally receiving something, an MVP award.
