Can we trust the Eagles to win the next three games?

OK, so here’s the situation for your Philadelphia Eagles. After taking an overtime win in Dallas on Sunday night, which was pretty fun, the Eagles are now back in the driver’s seat of the NFC East. The Eagles may not have as many wins as the New York Giants, but they have the same number of losses, a game in hand and at the moment own a head-to-head tiebreaker against the G-Men. With the upcoming schedule through Thanksgiving, the Eagles have a chance to seize control of the division, but do you trust them to do that?

This week the Eagles take on the Miami Dolphins at home. Then, Jameis Winston and the Tampa Bay Bucs roll into town. These two teams from the south have identical 3-5 records, which should suggest the Eagles will be clear favorites the next two weekends. The Giants take on the New England Patriots this weekend, so the Eagles have a chance to take over sole possession of first place this weekend if they can take care of business against the Dolphins. The Eagles will get a crack at the Patriots as well, but not before playing on Thanksgiving in Detroit first. The Lions have been abysmal this season, and once again it looks like the Eagles will be in position to be a solid favorite.

If you have lost track, that could potentially be a four-game winning streak for the Eagles following the victory over the Cowboys. Do you trust this Eagles team to win four straight games? Should you trust them?

Under Chip Kelly, the Eagles have strung together five straight wins before, doing so in his first season in Philadelphia. It should be noted though, that five-game winning streak came with a bye week in the middle of the run, with three wins followed by a bye week and two more wins at home. Last season the Eagles had a season-high three-game winning streak out of the start of the news season. A bid for a fourth straight win fell short on the road against the San Francisco 49ers.

For the first half of the season, the Eagles have been equal parts maddening, frustrating, puzzling and confusing. Offseason roster moves by Kelly have taken time to gel together, and there is still room for improvement with the offense. The Eagles have been inconsistent at times because there are so many new moving parts in key positions, and four game sin the preseason was not enough to put it all together in time to have a cohesive offensive identity.

Winning streaks are about having consistency, with a couple of lucky breaks here and there. The Eagles have not shown they are capable of being consistent just yet, but now is their opportunity to change that tune, build momentum and grab the NFC East by the horns and run with it. Do you trust them to get to New England with a record of 7-4 and at least a one-game lead in the division? I’ll choose to believe it when I see it.
