The Montreal Canadiens defeated the Boston Bruins 4-2 on Tuesday night at Bell Centre. First Star PK Subban tallied a goal and an assist, and put in his fifth game of the playoffs with multiple points.
Center Tomas Plekanec opened the scoring for Montreal on a beautiful shot-pass by winger Thomas Vanek, which left Plekanec with a wide open net with Bruins goaltender Tuukka Rask playing the shot.
Subban was then called for a penalty, which was a questionable call at best. As soon as he came out of the penalty box, Lars Eller sprung him on a break-away, and he scored six seconds after his penalty expired. Dale Weise then added insult to injury, scoring on yet another break-away.
However, the Bruins didn’t quit. Patrice Bergeron scored when he tipped in Torey Krug’s shot in the second period. Then, Jarome Iginla tipped one past Carey Price 17:44 into the third period. However, the Bruins couldn’t tie it up, and Lars Eller scored on the Bruins empty net, sealing the win for the home team.
Carey Price saved 26 of the 28 shots that he faced, while Tuukka Rask was 22/25.
Game four will be played Thursday night at Bell Centre, with puck drop scheduled to be at 7:30 PM EST.
