Chris Capuano is probably going to go with Tommy John surgery to repair a torn ulnar collateral ligament and is likely out for the 2008 season, according to Adam McCalvy of MLB.com.
This means that Manny Parra’s chances of making the rotation improve, as he’s is the lone lefty starter still in contention. It also means that Doug Melvin is less likely to need to trade an arm anytime soon. It also means that Capuano will probably not be back with the Brewers’ next season, as it is hard to imagine the Brewers offering arbitration to Capuano, seeing as they’d have to offer him at least $3.0 million (20% reduction from his current $3.75 million salary for ’08).
