The UConn women’s team they ain’t.
It took extra innings Tuesday night, but the Cardinals were able to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. 0-162 is still in play.

Ok, ok.
The loss isn’t the end of the world. The Pirates are a good team. The temperature hasn’t gotten above 50 degrees in either game. And the bullpen came in and dominated for 6 innings.
Heck, the offense was even able to score 5 runs and hit a home run.
What I want to talk about is that bunt.
You know, the one Kolten Wong popped up trying to move Jeremy Hazelbaker to 3rd with 0 outs in the top of the 9th.
Cardinals fans? They do not like the bunt.
Stop bunting!

That inning was solely on Wong not being able to get a bunt down.

Wong doesn’t seem to excel at sacrificing. So maybe don’t ask him to do it.

If I was a manager, a popped up bunt attempt would probably get you bench faster than any other annoying little thing.

Yeah…that's why you don't bunt runner to third with no one out #STLCards

This game has more bunting than the Fourth of July

Bunts are dumb. #STLCards #Pirates

That reminds me. Anyone know who won the Spring Training Bunting Championship this year?

If you want to read more about Wong’s bunt, feel free.
Maybe you like the bunt. And you’d have a strong advocate in Mike Matheny. But there’s something to be said for letting your players play, IMHO.
The Birds try to avoid the sweep on Wenesday night.
