So the Cardinals, the "best team in baseball", served up a ripe one last night against the Astros. The 19 games below .500 Astros who you couldn't name a member of unless you count Brett Wallace… and we don't.
5-7 in the last 12. Losses against Miami (twice) and Houston bookending a sweep by the Texas Rangers.
Oh, and the Pirates? They're in first place now.
So as the Cardinals continue west to Oakland to face the surprising (46-34) A's, it appears that the birds regression to the mean has finally taken hold. Worse, it came during a 2 week stretch where we all expected 25 games over .500 would be reached.
