The Cardinals have reached an agreement with former Tigers shortstop Jhonny Peralta, according to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports.

Peralta had a good season last year, he had a slash line of .303/.358/.457, but his value took a hit thanks to his 50-game suspension for involvement with the Biogenesis PED scandal.
The Cardinals signed Peralta to a 4 year contract that is worth a little more than $52 million. This is a questionable deal, because Peralta is 31 years old and he is coming off of a career-best season that was because he took performance enhancing drugs. I’m not expecting great production out of Peralta, but I am expecting him to be more productive than Pete Kozma, so this is still an okay signing by the Cardinals.
Peralta can also play third base and left field, but the Cardinals have been looking for a shortstop for a long time now, so expect Peralta to be their shortstop next season.
