Apologies if you decided to watch even a single inning of Cardinals baseball over the weekend. If you happened to focus on football or family instead, I’ve embedded a highlight reel below:

Per Rick Hummel – this was the first time that the Cardinals have been shutout in a three game series since 1976. It also ended a streak of 109 3-game series straight without being swept. The Braves had as many runs (12) as the Cardinals had hits.

Halloween has come early, AMIRITE?

Coach Mike Matheny seems to be taking a heaping helping of disdain for the line-ups he trotted out on Turner Field, but he shouldn’t.

With the NL Central wrapped his main focus was to not get anyone hurt before Friday – mission accomplished.

He’s also right to assume that players benefiting from increased playing time should be motivated to win and make a case for either the postseason roster or the ’16 opening day roster.

So, um, not so much, turns out.

Regardless of what happens in the postseason, the ’15 St. Louis Cardinals will go down as one of, if not the most, enigmatic 100-win teams in baseball history. By taking their foot off the gas ever so slightly, everything imploded instantaneously.

Hell, the fact that this team could look so bad with a little room to relax might actually bolster Matheny’s case for Manager of the Year.

It’s all over now.

100-62. Game 1 of the NLDS in Busch Stadium Friday (probably late afternoon, but still TBD).

BTW, in case you were wondering, the internet says that even though Fredrick Uhrbom was carried out on a stretcher in the clip above, he made a full recovery and is fine. Much like we hope the Cardinals are come Friday.
