Having bags full of money won’t make you happy, but it can buy your teammates new noses.
Yesterday it was announced that Carlos Beltran, the new St. Louis Cardinals outfielder had made a 10K payment to former Mets teammate Jon Niese for a nosejob Beltran had promised to pay for. And yes, you read that right, Beltran paid for Niese’s nosejob.
I assume this whole situation was spawned from a ball busting session. As you can see from the picture above, Mr. Niese does have a rather prominent nose.
Further, it’s baseball. Where boredom and monotony lead to some pretty dark places. So as the days turned into weeks and the weeks into months, Beltran’s needling at Mr. Niese’s beak evolved into an offer to get it ‘fixed’.
As of today, it is.
Plus better breathing and sleep have been unexpectedly pleasant side effects.
We finally have some closure on the big nose news coming out of the Cardinals Clubhouse this season. Good karma is coming your way Carlos. I can smell it.
