The Railhawks don’t have the biggest budget in the league but they have added some talented players. They also lost their starting goalkeeper Akria Fitzgerald to NYCFC. The club has since added two goalkeepers, one being Hunter Gilstrap, who recently played for the Pittsburgh Riverhounds of the USL. Hunter had this to say on joining the club, ” I will try to use my experience to help each guy on the team perform to the best of their ability”.
Also the club has added Brian Sylvestre. He is 22 years old so he may be on the bench come April 4th against Ottawa. Hunter Gilstrap will probably be their number one keeper during the season. They have some key players in the defense Blake Wagner, Connor Tobin, and Kupono Low .
In the midfield they have added Mark Anderson who last season played for the Strikers and led them to the The Championship final against the Scorpions. Hopefully he could bring that experience to the team and work hard and make them a contender. Another edition to the midfield is Neil Hlavaty, who last season played for FC Edmonton. During his time in Edmonton he appeared in 51 NASL matches and logged 4,140 minutes and scored five goals.
In the attack they have Simone Bracalello, who last season played for Minnesota United FC . Simone has appeared in over 117 matches, logged 6,461 minutes and scored 29 goals. Alongside Simone in the attack is Nacho Novo a Glasgow Rangers legend , who is entering his second season with the club .The last member of the attack is Wells Thompson who played for the Revolution of MLS and in 2007 they won the U.S Open Cup .
This is an exciting Railhawks team that is strong in all positions. It is going to be interesting to see how Colin Clarke sets up his team. Who is going to be striking partners? There are a lot of great players on the team and it is going to be hard to choose the 18 on match day.
