Pierre LeBrun at ESPN.com reports that the Carolina Hurricanes will attempt to re-sign Tuomo Ruutu rather than trade the forward.
Carolina GM Jim Rutherford has had trade talks with other teams about Ruutu, but after meeting with the Finnish forward decided to work on re-signing him.
LeBrun adds that Rutherford hopes to have a resolution on the matter before the end of next week. If the two sides can’t find agreement on a new deal, odds are Ruutu will be traded before the Feb. 27 trade deadline.
…first Gleason, then Prospal and now Ruutu. If this keeps up, there won’t be anyone left for the Rangers to trade for. Which may be a good thing.
