This deal comes just before the Eagles are set to kick off their rookie mini camp. Obviously eventually the Eagles were going to strike a deal with Wentz, however this is still a great day for the Eagles. It is now official, the Wentz era has begun. There is even a poll on twitter asking which was a better signing, the signing of the Declaration of Independence or Carson Wentz’s contract. As you can see, Philadelphia is on cloud 9 today.
With Sam Bradford now back, Chase Daniel and Carson Wentz in the QB room, it is still unknown if Wentz will see the field in 2016. That being said, the Eagles have invested a lot of money in their QBs.
Wentz: 4yrs, $26.6 million, $17.6 mill signing bonus
Bradford: 2yrs, $35 million, $22 guaranteed
Daniel: 3yrs, $21 million, $12 guaranteed— Jon Johnson (@jonjohnsonwip) May 12, 2016
Some might say that is a lot of money for three QBs, but in the NFL the Quarterback is the most important position. It is money invested smartly by the Eagles. You have the short term investment in Bradford and the long term investment in Wentz. Chase Daniel is also a valuable asset on the team. He is the QB who knows the system, and will share his knowledge with Wentz and Bradford.
Welcome Carson Wentz to Philadelphia, lets commence the beginning of the Carson Wentz Era.
