Casey Ramos Dominates John Jackson

Austin-based undefeated prospect Casey Ramos put forth inarguably a virtuoso performance Saturday night on the undercard of the Top Rank Live card held at the WinStar Casino in Thackerville, OK.  However, the fight would not be without some sustained drama. 

Controversy abounded in the opening round as Ramos was charged with hitting out of the break as he floored Jackson with a right hand as both fighters were separating from a clinch.  It’s hard to determine if the shot was illegal or not as it appeared that Ramos was in the act of throwing the shot milliseconds before the referee yelled, “Break.”  Jackson, to his credit, was able to shrug off the shot and seemed to come out more aggressive to end the round. 

However, in the second round Ramos again looked as if he hit Jackson after the break.  While it didn’t appear that Ramos was doing this intentionally he was docked a point for the ruled illegal hit.  Of course, Jackson should learn not to let his guard down so easily, the fact remains that despite the point deduction Ramos clearly won the round. 

Jackson had some fleeting moments of success in the third round as he connected with a huge right hand that landed flush to the head of Ramos.  Unfortunately for Jackson that would be the limit to his success in the round as Ramos roared back landing solid combos to the head and body of Jackson. 

Ramos unleashed hell in the fourth round as he kept up the pressure, unleashing a plethora of thudding shots to the head and body of Jackson.   Ramos was relentless and even slumped Jackson along the ropes at the end of the round with a straight right hand.  Jackson would manage to beat the count, barely, but Ramos again looked like he was out for blood.   

The remaining four rounds would play out in similar fashion as Ramos was simply too technical, too tenacious, and well, too mean for Jackson.  Ramos simply was too much and battered Jackson from pillar to post throughout the fight to earn a unanimous decision.
