Al Newman was a beloved Twins icon for more than 20 years, first as a gritty Twins infielder who didn’t bring much to the table other than hustle, and then as a coach, who’s positive attitude reflected the mindset of the Twins organization through the early 2000s. He decided to step away from baseball in 2008 to pursue other passions and spend more time with his family.
Shortly thereafter, Al Newman became Cee Lo Green.
