The Sacramento Kings finished up an incredibly busy week on Friday by introducing newly acquired Aaron Brooks at a press conference on the floor of the team’s practice facility. Brooks and President of Basketball Operations, Geoff Petrie, took center stage, but hiding on the periphery was Jerry Reynolds, Kings Director of Player Personnel and long-time member of the team’s television broadcast.
Reynolds has been a fan favorite since the team moved here in 1985. He has worn just about every hat imaginable for a franchise that has had more than its fair share of ups and downs. Last weekend I had a chance to just sit and watch the first period of the Kings summer league game against the Lakers, but that conversation was just two guys catching a game. On Friday, however, I was able to get something a little more formal for your listening pleasure.

Reynolds on if you can really learn about a player in a short summer league stint:
“I think you can, but I think maybe it’s a little bit different. I think what you can learn, is who can’t do it. To me…for the most part you don’t want to make too much of it, because guys, whether they’re averaging 12 points a game or 15 points a game or whatever, that’s all just jibber-jabber at some point. But some players that you see, clearly it’s just not going to work. You know, in a five game period, you just say – this guy is not a pro and he’s not gonna be.” -Jerry Reynolds
