Perhaps the best bit of news to date in the Wisconsin Badgers’ spring camp has been a lack of news about major injuries happening. That streak could have ended on Sunday, as sophomore cornerback Derrick Tindal appeared to suffer a severe upper body injury.
Severe enough to have to be transported via ambulance to the hospital according to reports from Jeff Potrykus of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and Ben Worgull of BadgerNation.
Scary moment here at end of #Badgers practice. Soph CB Derrick Tindal being removed from the field in an ambulance. Back board & immobilized

#Badgers Tindal (upper/body) taken to UE Hospital for evaluations. No specifics from UW yet. Had movement.

However, the scariest of thoughts — a paralyzing injury — appear to have been averted. Potrykus went on to report that Tindal had feeling in his arms and legs while being carted off the field.
Again, #Badgers Tindal had feeling in extremities but was taken to UW Hospital for eval.

The sophomore was having an excellent spring according to multiple reports and is likely to be the No. 3 cornerback for the Badgers this fall, barring anything serious from this incident. He finished last season with 10 tackles and appeared in all 13 games for Wisconsin.
He wasn’t the lone injury though, as junior center Dan Voltz suffered an ankle injury and according to a report from Badger247’s Evan Flood, he was seen on crutches after evaluation from the team’s medical staff.
