The Wisconsin Badgers 2017 recruiting class is nearly full, but following Saturday’s slugfest with Ohio State the Badgers were able to pick up one more commitment.
With Wisconsin leading by a large margin for cornerback Faion Hicks, it was little surprise to hear him commit during his exit interview. Our recruiting partners at Badger247 were the first to report on the commitment.
Hicks had fallen in love with the coaching staff, and his official visit was the last piece to the puzzle for the cornerback.
“I chose Wisconsin mainly because of the coaches,” Hicks said, via Badger247. “They have a need for cornerbacks so there’s playing time opportunities there as well. Also they have a great tradition.”

The 5-11, 180 pound cornerback hails from Pembroke Pines, Fla. (Flanagan) and his relationship with South Florida recruiter Inoke Breckterfield put the Badgers out in front early on. His bond with the Badgers coaching staff only grew stronger as secondary coach Jim Leonhard got involved with him.
Hicks chose the Badgers over 15 offers, including names like Cincinnati, Iowa State, Western Kentucky and Appalachian State.
He is also theNo. 147 cornerback and the No. 202 prospect in Florida in the 2017 class by 247SportsComposite.
It was also an important pick up with cornerback Ke’Shan Pennamon decommitting from the Badgers earlier in the week.

Hicks joins fellow three-star commit Madison Cone as cornerbacks in the 2017 class for Wisconsin. UW is likely to look for one more late here in the 2017 recruiting cycle.
Given the movement and the small size of Wisconsin’s recruiting class, the Badgers rank No. 49 in the nation and No. 10 in the Big Ten rankings by the 247Sports composite team rankings.
