C.C. Sabathia pitched his third straight complete game in as many starts for the Brewers on Wednesday night, for his third straight win, a 3-0 blanking of the St. Louis Cardinals. The win keeps the Brewers just one game behind the Cubs for the NL Central lead, and is the seventh straight for the Brewers, six of which were on the road.
C.C. allowed just three hits while fanning seven; the Brewers’ #1-#3 hitters–Rickie Weeks, J.J. Hardy, and Ryan Braun–led the attack, going 9-for-14, to score two and drive in all three runs.
The Brewers go for the sweep Thursday night with ace Ben Sheets taking the hill for the finale. With some of the in-laws being from St. Louis, I might just have to stop by and rub their noses in it should the Crew build a big lead….
