So, the major league baseball season ended last night, and, officially, tonight, sort of, the playoffs begin, with the surprising Rockies (who remind me of the Twins, circa 2003 except with hitters and not pitchers) hosting the Padres. I’d just like to point out that while the American League was incredibly dull this year (Angels, Indians, Red Sox, Yankees, how terribly ordinary (I’ve got the Yankees in the WS this year)), and it was settled early enough for me to lose interest in, the National League has been frightfully entertaining. With the game still in the balance at 5-4 Arizona, we have these 5 teams, the Phillies, Cubs, Diamondbacks, Padres and Rockies in contention for the NL pennant. Between those 5 teams, the Diamondbacks have a world championship in 2001, and the next most recent? The Phillies in 1980. This should be an interesting set of playoffs. Too bad that any of these teams against any of the AL are going to get destroyed.
