With all the hype surrounding this Celtics-Knicks game coming up on Wednesday, I couldn't help but think of my 1st trip to MSG aka "The Mecca."
It was last November, and the C's were going through a tough stretch where they had lost 3 of their last 4. Morale was low, the fans were a bit anxious, and a win was needed to boost confidence.
My Dad and I were excited for our first game ever at MSG, and I was hoping for a big win by the C's. The boys in green came out of the gates pretty well, scoring 30 points in the 1st quarter. But 5 three-pointers from Al Harrington and a 29-10 run to end the 3rd kept the game tight.
But The Truth drilled 6 of his own 3's and tallied a game-high 33 to help keep the C's afloat. After Rondo missed a 3 at the end of regulation, we were headed for O.T. It was there that the C's defense took over, holding the Knicks to 7 points. KG buried a jumper from the top of the key at the buzzer to propel the C's to victory. The win proved to be a huge confidence builder, as it propelled the C's to go on a 10-game win streak.
Man what a great afternoon in NYC that was. Hopefully Wednesday will be just as fun for the fans in attendance…
