Celtics looking at Lou Amundson

Celtics looking at Lou AmundsonFOX Sports Florida’s Chris Tomasson reports that the Boston Celtics are among the teams looking at free-agent forward Lou Amundson. The 6’9″ Amundson was waived earlier this month by Minnesota. Tomasson writes:

Free-agent forward Lou Amundson said the Miami Heat are considering him for their open roster spot. But he isn’t sure it will end up being the right fit. Amundson said in a phone interview Thursday that his agent, Mark Bartelstein, has had conversations with Heat president Pat Riley about him. But he said the recent signing by Miami of Chris Andersen might be too much of a duplication as the Heat seek to possibly fill their 15th spot. “When they signed the ‘Birdman,’ he’s kind of a similar player,’’ Amundson said about he and Andersen both being athletic big men. “But there’s still a possibility (with Miami). That would be great if I could go there.’’

The 6-foot-9 Amundson said other teams in mix for him are Chicago, Boston and New York. The Knicks have a full roster of 15, but Amundson said they’re waiting to see how it works out with Kenyon Martin, who recently signed a 10-day contract. The Knicks also could clear a roster spot by waiving Rasheed Wallace, out for the season due to a foot injury.

Amundson also said that all the teams looking at him are “great” and he’d be happy going to any of them. He’s 30 years old and has career averages of just over 3 points and 3 rebounds a game. The best of those seasons being 2009-10 when he averaged 4.4 boards and 4.7 points with Phoenix. We’ll see if Boston fills their final roster spot with him soon enough.
