Celtics Summer League Wrap Up

What I’ve seen from this Celtics team is that shooting is very consistent while assists and rebounding complement well with the performances. Although we did get into the win column as much as we would liked, we had great individual performances which can translate well into the upcoming season. Here are the notable bright spots during this summer league.

R.J. Hunter- Averaging almost 11 points over the course of the summer league, Hunter is showing Coach Stevens that his unlimited range of 3 point shooting is in the works and will be deadly to other teams. Hunter’s best 3 point performance is when he went 4/4 from downtown against the Spurs on July 9th. Hunter will certainly make the Celtics due to deadly ability to make buckets during clutch time.

Terry Rozier- Celtics fans were NOT happy with the C’s picking Rozier out of Louisville with the 16th pick. I personally thought that it was a smart move but the only question was who’s leaving the C’s due to the PG position being filled up on the roster. Pressey unfortunately got the wrong end of it but Rozier showed what he was made of as a Rick Pitino prospect. Versatility is what comes to mind with Terry. Averaging 13 points a game while grabbing 3 boards and roughly dishing 4 assists isn’t bad at all. Rozier has raw talent but he is doing just fine with his confidence and basketball IQ.

Jordan Mickey- LSU was a bright spot and a no brainer for Ainge to look for Jordan Mickey. Mickey is a potential double-double machine with great rebounding skills. Shot-blocking is one of Mickey’s main attributes or as some people say, the best thing about Mickey. A undersized forward, Mickey is proving them wrong with his productive talent. Averaging about 12 points and 8 rebounds a game, Mickey is one piece to the Celtics frontcourt which can be very nice to have.
