Today, the Boston Celtics will travel to the Phillips arena to start their playoff series against the Atlanta Hawks. Both of these teams will play again in the quarterfinals just as they played back in ’08, when Boston went on their run to a championship. We all should know this series was very intense, which is why we should be excited to see this series again! Even though, Atlanta may have home court advantage, it is vital that the Celtics start strong and finish strong in order to send the Hawks flying out in the first round. Boston ended the regular season series beating Atlanta 2-1.
However, in addition to leading up to today’s game health plays a major issue for the Celtics. Ray Allen missed practice due to his injury (sore right ankle) that he had on April 10th. In order to cover his spot Doc will have to go to the bench and use Sasha Pavlovic or Marquis Daniels to fill in the rotation. Meanwhile, Al Horford is out and his backup Zaza Pachulia does not know when he will return to the courts. Nonetheless, the Hawks still have some reserved players that could do damage to the Boston Celtics.
I believe that this series will be interesting, even though Atlanta may have home court it will come down to who wants it more this series. I believe that Rajon Rondo will continue to be a successful PG as he continues to scare teams as he imposes a triple-double threat each game. Don’t be surprised if the Celtics win the opening tip today and Rajon Rondo decides to start the game off with a fancy trick. This will be a very competitive series that will come down to experience.
Finally, if the Celtics can out rebound their opponent they will win this series knowing that the paint has to be dominated then I see the Celtics winning this in 6 games. Watch Game 1 of the Eastern Quarterfinals tonight on TNT at 7pm! Go Celtics!
