Boston has released forward Ben Bentil, league sources tell The Vertical. Bentil could become waiver claim or affiliate option elsewhere.

//platform.twitter.com/widgets.jsThe Celtics had hoped to stash Bentil in the D-League but apparently that’s not going to happen for them. Bentil had shown some early Summer League promise as a potential stretch-big… enough that the Celtics gave him a partially-guaranteed 3-year deal. So he gets to walk away with $250,000 and a chance to compete for another team or go overseas.
That leaves 16 players for 15 spots… so one more guy has to go.
As cutdown looms, the Celtics continue to offer James Young or RJ Hunter for a second-round pick, league sources tell @TheVertical.

Not a shock… the final roster spot was always seemingly coming down to these two. Ainge is clearly looking for another team to make the decision for him. He’s got a few more days before he has to make the decision himself.
One of those guys is gone… and it’s going to happen soon.
