The San Diego Chargers will be without a key weapon against the Raiders Sunday. Starting running back Ryan Mathews has been ruled out. Mathews was questionable coming in and did not practice Friday. He will be replaced by Mike Tolbert.
The game has no playoff relevance for the Chargers. They were knocked out of contention for a playoff spot last week when they lost to the Lions. But this game is a must-win for the Raiders who are still hoping to get in the playoffs either as a division winner or a wildcard.
Tolbert has 432 yards on 112 carries (3.8 ypc) this season compared to Mathews’ 222 carries for 1091 yards (4.9 ypc). Both had under 40 yards on the ground in the Raiders’ last meeting in week ten.
