In other news regarding ex-Lions with criminal records, a judge has ordered Charles Rogers to repay Detroit $6.1 million. The former Spartan star wideout, whom the Lions chose second overall in the 2003 draft, was released after three injury plagued seasons. The money he owes the team is part of a nearly $10 million signing bonus.
Rogers is no stranger to the court system. Whether it be passing out drunk in a restaurant, driving under the influence, or passing out at a stoplight while trying to drive under the influence, he has let his life slip away from him. ESPN’s Jemele Hill wrote a lengthy article which chronicled all of Rogers’ failures. I’d recommend checking it out while you wait a night for Tiger baseball to resume.
