We're out of the 90's (damn do I miss that decade, if only for it's amazing music) and into the 80's here on our countdown to the kickoff of Badger football and the Gary Andersen era. Putting the past in the past and forging a new future with hopefully more success (ie winning a darn Rose Bowl once in three tries) is what 2013 is all about.
Funny we should mention that as 2013 is all about putting the past in the past for our next man up on the countdown to Badger football, as we're Chase Hammond to Badger football kickoff – a.k.a. 89 days away! For Hammond it's now or never to become a breakout player as he enters his redshirt junior season.
Story So Far:
– Hammond saw his first ever action of his career in his redshirt sophomore season last year, playing in 12 games and making 2 starts on the year.
– He recorded 5 receptions for 50 yards with a long of 30 on the season.
– Unfortunately Hammond may be most famous for this awful hit on him at the Rose Bowl this past season.
– At 6'5 and 205lbs. the new coaching staff could be just what is needed for a man somewhat buried on the depth chart.
History of No. 89 at Wisconsin:
Garrett Graham (TE, 2006-09): He was a two time 1st team All-Big Ten selection as a tight end, finishing his career with 121 catches for 1,492 yards and 16TD's. He is 13th on the all-time yardage list at UW as well as ranking 8th in career receptions. He is also tied for 7th in career touchdowns. Graham was selected by the Houston Texans in the 2010 NFL draft and is still on their roster.
