Penn State will finish in second to last in the Big 10 standings, only ahead of Rutgers, but will have a lot to celebrate on March 4th against Ohio State on Senior Night.
The leading scorer in the conference, Penn State’s senior guard D.J. Newbill will play his final home game at the 15,000-seat Bryce Jordan Center. The 6’4” Philadelphia guard is averaging 20.4 points per game with 4.9 rebounds and 3.1 assists.
After not playing in any games in freshman season, Newbill averaged over 35 minutes a game in each of his three seasons and increased his scoring average. In his sophomore year, Newbill averaged 16.3 points per game, bumped it up to 17.8 ppg in his junior year and finally, in his senior year became the leading scorer in the Big 10 conference. Newbill has scored 25 points or more in nine games this season for the Nittany Lions. Other seniors playing their last game at home are Ross Travis, Alan Wisniewski, and Kevin Montminy.

Newbill will likely end his three-year career at Penn State without playing in a major postseason tournament, but his importance to this program goes far beyond the wins and losses.
