The Chicago Bears relived general manager Phil Emery and head coach Marc Trestman of their duties respectively on Monday morning, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Field Yates.
Emery’s teams failed to make the playoffs in each of his three years as the head of the Bears. The team’s best record was in 2012, when the team finished 10-6.
In 2014, the Bears, who had held playoff aspirations, fell to a disappointing 5-11.
Trestman was unable to survive past two years in Chicago. With an overall record of 13-19, he failed to deliver on the championship aspirations that had circled the Windy City.
Next, eyes will be turned to inconsistent quarterback Jay Cutler. Rumors circulating have associated him with a trade out of Chicago. Such a drastic move would signal the desires of Chicago’s ownership to completely overhaul the organization.
