Signed by Kansas City before the start of the 2016 season, Foles made his first appearance for the Chiefs last Sunday. He twice replaced starter Alex Smith, who left Kansas City’s 30-14 win over the Indianapolis Colts after suffering two separate head injuries.
Foles completed 16 of 22 passes for 223 yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions against the Colts. He finished with a 135.2 passer rating.
According to ESPN’s Adam Teicher, Smith won’t be available as the backup quarterback, despite the Chiefs believing he doesn’t have a concussion.
“This was a decision we came to together,” Smith said.
Tyler Bray will be the No. 2 quarterback against the Jaguars.
