What has become of our superheroes? First the seemingly untouchable Lyoto Machida got crushed by barely beat Shogun Rua, now the legendary Fedor Emelianenko is waking up this morning looking like Popeye Jones’ mugshot.
How did this happen? How did Fedor end up with a broken nose and damaged left hand from Brett Rogers, an inexperienced brawler? Now let’s not get things twisted here – Fedor was never in real danger in the fight, and Rogers only really hit him clean a couple of times. But he made the shots he did get in count, exploding the Russian heavyweight’s nose. And as we all know, and as Rogers found out himself in round 2, often all it takes is one punch to win a MMA fight. At the same time, Fedor also showed to viewers who haven’t followed his career closely up to this point that he can take a beating and still find a way to win a fight. But, after last night Fedor has to be included with Lyoto on the list of unbeatable – but not untouchable – MMA superstars. Well, at least we still have Anderson Silva to wear the Superman cape, right?
