Earlier this month, the Philadelphia Eagles sent shock waves around the league as right before NFL Free Agency opened up, they traded quarterback Nick Foles to the St. Louis Rams for quarterback Sam Bradford. The trade also included some draft picks but according to Eagles head coach Chip Kelly, he was trying not to include Foles in the trade for Bradford.

From Martin Frank of the News Journal, Kelly said, “It went on for a couple weeks. We were trying to keep Nick if we could. It was just at the last second, they wanted players. We were trying to get it done with draft picks, but it didn’t work out that way.”

This backs up with what Kelly said at this week’s league meeting, when he said that he tried to get Bradford for picks but the Rams was not budging and wanted Foles.

St. Louis Rams head coach Jeff Fisher believes that Foles can be their franchise quarterback, while Kelly believes Bradford is his guy. Let us not forget, a few weeks ago Kelly said that he would not mortgage the future for one player, that player being Oregon Ducks quarterback Marcus Mariota. So for all you Eagles fans still holding out hope for Mariota, that dream is slowly fading away as it looks like Bradford will be under center this upcoming season.
