Chipper to Yanks: No Thanks

In the last few months, the New York Yankees have started to look more like "The Walking Dead" than the "Bronx Bombers".  And while I like the idea of a group of zombies taking the field, it's probably better to be fully healthy than hurt.

Naturally, rumors began swirling around about who might be throwing on the pinstripes and joining the Yankees when they head back to the Big Apple in less than a month…the latest being Chipper Jones.  As the story goes, Yankees general manager Brian Cashman expressed that he had "plans to call Chipper's agent".

Problem.  Jones has absolutely no desire to get back out there and play.

Thankfully, Yankees captain Derek Jeter had a better idea than going after the former Atlanta Braves slugger.

“Call Mike Schmidt,” Jeter told the New York Daily News. “I think Chipper is at home right now. Unless we have a golf team, I don’t think there’s a reason to call him up.”
