Chris Butler signs with the Blues

Chris Butler is coming home. The St. Louis Blues have signed Butler to a one-year, two-way contract. The move gives the Blues a bit of additional depth both at the NHL and at the AHL level. Butler, a St. Louis native, most recently spent time with the Calgary Flames.

Paul Stastny led the way and now Butler is joining him. Ironically, both men skated at Chaminade and now they both are employed by the same professional hockey team.

As for the deal itself, the fact it’s of the two-way variety makes it extremely useful. The St. Louis defense is pretty much in place, but the Blues needed another option to call on should one of their regulars go down with an injury. There are other men the Blues could have called on from the Chicago Wolves, but Butler is a more proven option.
