Chris Porter is going to miss a significant amount of time after suffering a brutal leg injury against the Colorado Avalanche. Porter’s leg appeared to bend awkwardly under his weight following a check and it forced the forward out of the game. Porter will be evaluated again in six weeks.

The exact details of Porter’s lower-body injury haven’t been released, but the speculation is that it’s a broken bone either in his foot or ankle. Regardless, the injury is severe enough to force Porter to miss at least six weeks.

There’s never a good time for an injury, but Porter’s comes at a particularly rough time. Porter was playing extremely well and gave the Blues the confidence to pass Magnus Paajarvi through waivers. Though the team won’t regret their decision in regards to Paajarvi, they will miss Porter’s energy. Porter was given an opportunity to earn a full-time role, he earned it and now he’s going to miss significant time.
