Penn State quarterback Christian Hackenberg will be one of seven players to go through the annual Gruden QB Camp on ESPN, hosted by Monday Night Football analyst and former Super Bowl winning coach Jon Gruden. Hackenberg is one of three Big Ten quarterbacks in this year’s Gruden QB Camp, with Michigan State’s Connor Cook and Ohio State’s Cardale Jones being the other two.
“He’s one of the big mysteries of this year’s crop,” Gruden said of Hackenberg in an ESPN release. “Highly-touted and we know the production he had as a freshman under Coach (Bill) O’Brien. The offensive change and losing Allen Robinson didn’t help him, but he’s got prototype size and he’s got some traits people are looking for.”
Hackenberg is a bit of a polarizing prospect in the NFL Draft mix this season. It will be interesting to see how Gruden breaks down the film with Hackenberg across the table, and it will be worth seeing how Gruden explains Hackenberg’s level of production.
