Chuck Hayes went down in the second quarter of Thursday night’s Kings/Bucks game. He was clearly in pain, as the team’s medical staff tried unsuccessfully to put his left shoulder back in place.
Following the game, I ran into Hayes in the tunnel and the news is not great. Hayes informed me that he is out an estimated 2-3 weeks with a dislocated left shoulder and will undergo further testing tomorrow.
“Man this guy has gone through everything so far,” new Kings head coach Keith Smart said of Hayes following Thursday night’s win. “The medical will talk to me, I haven’t had a chance to visit with them yet. But I’m sure he’s going to get some type of MRI or something later on tonight or tomorrow, but we’ll know more tomorrow .”
This injury couldn’t come at a worst time, as the Kings get Dwight Howard and the Orlando Magic on Sunday before taking off on another lenghty road trip. The Kings will have to rely heavily on DeMarcus Cousins, J.J. Hickson, Jason Thompson and possibly even Travis Outlaw in Hayes absence.
