Notre Dame starting running back, Cierre Wood, is suspended for the Irish's season opened against Navy in Dublin, Ireland. The rumors were in full swing last night, but there have been rumblings of something going on for almost a month now.
Keith Arnold confirmed with his sources earlier today.

Although running back is perhaps the deepest position for Notre Dame, losing a returning starter that ran for over 1,100 yards last season is hardly anything to dismiss as "no big deal." Notre Dame will be relying heavily on Theo Riddick and George Atkinson III to carry the load.
This is a hit that the Irish can still take and win with, but with injuries and suspensions piling up, the idea of getting off to a good start this season may very well be in jeopardy.
